Explore the inner-workings of music at Soundpost! Held in Symphony Center’s Buntrock Hall from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., this year’s 3-event series dives into the [de]composition of sound. Throughout history, music has been used to interpret emotion, stories, visual art and so many other things! But how do we begin to interpret music in other mediums? Join us on May 3 as Ricardo Mondragon and Richie Palys tell us how they express and process music as a visual experience. Mondragon, a contemporary Mexican artist, is known for his ability to explore different possibilities of transformation based on waveforms, frequency, harmony, matter, color and light. Richie Palys is a Chicago-area composer, audio producer and artist whose work eclectically spans from classical to jazz, electronic and visual art. At Soundpost, he will explain the process of his work entitled "Family Time" which was created from Richie's experiences with sound-color synesthesia.
