Beethoven, Rachmaninov

Monday, April 9, 2018

Sir Georg Solti Conducting Apprentice Erina Yashima leads this performance of a duo of symphonies by two masters of the Classical and Romantic eras. Beethoven’s graceful and spontaneous Fourth Symphony stands in contrast to his more serious Third and Fifth. Rachmaninov’s Second Symphony, widely regarded as his most popular, showcases the composer’s brilliant gift for lush melodic writing.
