Muti Conducts Tchaikovsky & Debussy

Apr 20

1:30 PM

Tchaikovsky, Debussy

Friday, April 20, 2018

Muti caps a season-long celebration of the 125th anniversary of Tchaikovsky's death with two of his most celebrated and tragically romantic works: the symphonic poem Francesca da Rimini and his treasured ballet Swan Lake. In a rare treat, Muti pairs these works with two by French composer Claude Debussy, another master of vivid orchestral colors. His ethereal Sacred and Profane Dances will feature CSO Principal Harp Sarah Bullen as soloist.

RUSH seating is available for the April 20 and 21 events. Please call Patron Services at 312-294-3000 for details.

When she was about 5 years old, Sarah Bullen attended a harp recital and immediately realized it was the instrument for her. “The physical beauty of the instrument was always so awesome just to see, not to mention listening to it,” she said. “It felt totally right.” Her love for the instrument has never flagged ever since. “I’m an ambassador for the instrument, so I’m happy to bring it forward,” she said. “I’m proud to do that. I’m proud to have a voice.” Read more at CSO Sounds & Stories
