The 2018/19 season marks the beginning of the 100th anniversary of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. The League and the Women’s Board of the CSOA are partnering together with the Negaunee Music Institute Board to commemorate this milestone occasion with the Civic Centennial Celebration on Monday, April 1, 2019. Guest Artist Yo-Yo Ma, the Judson and Joyce Green Creative Consultant, joins the Civic Orchestra, conducted by Esa-Pekka Salonen, for a special performance of works by Salonen and Dvořák with both a pre-concert reception and post-concert dinner. All proceeds benefit the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, a signature program of The Negaunee Music Institute at the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

The Civic Orchestra of Chicago’s Centennial Celebration Concert is generously sponsored by The Elizabeth F. Cheney Foundation.

Soundpost is a preconcert series that occurs three times each season offering a unique exploration of the inner workings of music. Hosted by the CSO's Overture Council, Soundpost features presentations by diverse guest speakers and includes complimentary bites, specially priced cocktails, live music demonstrations and a DJ.

Corporate Night is a fundraising project presented in partnership by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Association and the League of the CSOA. The annual event recognizes the CSOA’s many corporate partners for their generous financial support of the Orchestra. Corporate Night attendees enjoy cocktails and dinner followed by a concert featuring the CSO and a special guest artist. Past guest artists have included Gregory Porter, Pink Martini, Kristin Chenoweth, Sarah McLachlan, Melissa Etheridge, and Aretha Franklin. Proceeds benefit the CSOA’s artistic, education and community engagement programs in Chicago and across the globe.

Symphony Ball is a lavish fundraising gala celebrating the commencement of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s concert season. This dazzling event includes a pre-concert reception and a spectacular CSO concert, followed by dinner and dancing. One of Chicago’s not-to-be-missed parties, Symphony Ball raises more than $1 million each year to support the mission of the CSOA. Symphony Ball is presented by the Women’s Board of the CSOA.

Congratulations to the chairs, co-chairs and committee of Symphony Ball 2018 which took place October 6, 2018. We look forward to our next Symphony Ball, happening in September of 2019!

Fall in Love with Music is the signature special event hosted by The League of the CSOA each Fall. This festive gathering features a discussion with CSO guest conductors or artists and a performance by CSO musicians followed by a sumptuous meal. Previous special guests have included Michael Tilson Thomas, Lady Valerie Solti, Emanuel Ax, Leif Ove Andsnes and Jaap van Zweden, Marin Alsop and Bruno Mantovani. All proceeds benefit the CSOA’s artistic, educational and community programs.

African American Network

The mission of the CSOA’s African American Network (AAN) is to engage Chicago’s culturally rich African American community through the sharing and exchanging of unforgettable musical experiences while building relationships for generations to come. The AAN hosts pre- and post-concert events, educational lectures and seminars, film screenings, recitals, and more. The CSO Latino Alliance is a liaison and partner that connects the CSO with Chicago’s diverse community by creating awareness, sharing insights and building relationships for generations to come. The CSO Latino Alliance hosts four preconcert networking receptions a season which feature special guest artists giving insights into the evening’s concert plus light food and beverages, followed by a Chicago Symphony Orchestra concert.
