Zhejiang Symphony Orchestra

Zhejiang Symphony Orchestra was founded in 2009, and the orchestra was formerly known as the Orchestra of Zhejiang Song and Dance Theater, which has a history of nearly 60 years. The Independent Symphony Orchestra has an establishment of tri-wind, and it mainly undertakes creation, performance, education, and promotion. Relying on the profound cultural background of Zhejiang province, the Zhejiang Symphony Orchestra plays a classical works of symphonies while absorbing the nutrients from the folk Music. The orchestra has composed and performed a large number of symphonic works with strong regional cultural characteristics such as “Shan Hai Jing”, “A Dream of Boudoir” and “Partridges Flying” which was widely appreciated and warmly welcomed by the audience.

Orchestra has made many of tours mainly including Chinese pieces to South Korea, Japan, France, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, the Czech Republic, Germany, Sweden, Belgium, Spain, Algeria, Brazil and other countries. The performances of the orchestra were praised as the most orientated and beautiful concert by the audience.

In September 2011, the orchestra held a concert tour in Italy, Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Sweden, Belgium and attended the Italian MITO Festival and the Prague Dvorak Festival. The orchestra's tour was a great success.

In January 2013, the orchestra was appointed by China’s Ministry of Culture to attend the closing concert of Chinese Culture Year Ceremony in Berlin. The orchestra also went to Madrid to participate the opening concert of the 40th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between China & Spain, and the concert is organized by the Chinese Embassy in Spain.

From September 13 to 19, 2013, on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Argentina, and at the invitation of the Chinese Embassy in Algeria, the Zhejiang Symphony Orchestra participated in the 5th Algiers International Music Festival in Algeria. The special concert and closing concert performed by Zhejiang Symphony orchestra left a very deep impression to the audience.

During the 6th BRICs in July 2014, the orchestra was dispatched by the ministry of culture, accompanied with president Xi Jinping’s visit to Brazil, to held two concerts successfully in Fortaleza and Brasilia. The performances were highly praised by president Xi Jinping and warmly welcomed by the locals.

At the G20 summit held in Hangzhou in September 2016, the performance of the orchestra is highly praised by the leadership of many countries.
