Stephen Gould

2016 projects of American heldentenor Stephen Gould include the title role of William Bolkom’s Mac Teague in Linz, Siegfried, Götterdämmerung, Parsifal and Peter Grimes in Vienna, Gurre-Lieder conducted by Zubin Mehta in Munich and under Ingo Metzmacher in Hannover, Tristan und Isolde in Hamburg, Karlsruhe and at Bayreuth Festival, Die Walküre in Tokyo, where he sings his first Siegmund in a fully staged production,

2017 he will sing, among others, Tannhäuser in Vienna and Berlin.

2017 are scheduled, among others, Tannhäuser in Vienna and Berlin, Siegfried in Dresden, Siegfried and Götterdämmerung in Toyko as well as Tristan und Isolde in Munich and at Bayreuth Festival.

Recent engagements have included his first Aegisth in a concert performance of Elektra in Berlin, Tristan und Isolde in Zurich, London, Tokyo, Dresden, Berlin and in concert in Birmingham, Paris, Berlin and La Coruña, Ariadne auf Naxos in Vienna, Dresden and Graz, Fidelio in Hamburg, Dresden, Munich, Tokyo, Florence and Rome, I Pagliacci in Berlin, Lohengrin in Hamburg, Trieste and Dresden, Siegfried and Götterdämmerung in Amsterdam, Vienna, Berlin, Munich, Bayreuth and New York, Die Frau ohne Schatten in Buenos Aires, at Salzburg Festival and in Dresden, Parsifal in Vienna, Berlin, Dresden and Graz, Der fliegende Holländer in Turin, Madrid, New York, Munich and Palermo, Les Troyens in Valencia and Florence, Otello in Tokyo, Karlsruhe, Dresden and Florence, Tannhäuser in Budapest, Vienna, Mannheim, Las Palmas, Paris, Tokyo, Geneva and Bayreuth, Peter Grimes in Dresden and Geneva, Die Liebe der Danae in Dresden, or Die tote Stadt in Berlin, Vienna and London.

Stephen Gould has performed with conductors such as Daniel Barenboim, Ivor Bolton, Pierre Boulez, Riccardo Chailly, Adam Fischer, Daniele Gatti, Hartmut Haenchen, Marek Janowski, Philippe Jordan, Fabio Luisi, Zubin Mehta, Ingo Metzmacher, Kent Nagano, Andris Nelsons, Seiji Ozawa, Simon Rattle, Donald Runnicles, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Christian Thielemann, Franz Welser-Möst and David Zinman.

He sang Beethoven’s 9th symphony in Berlin and Munich, Beethoven's Missa Solemnis in Chicago, Schönberg’s Gurre-Lieder in Montreal, Berlin, Brussels, Amsterdam, Helsinki, Montreux and at the Lucerne Festival, Mahler's 8th symphony in Bergen, New York, Leipzig, Paris, Vienna and Budapest, Mahler's Das Lied von der Erde in Berlin, Graz, Lucerne, Paris and Prague, or Stravinsky’s Oedipus Rex in London.

Among his recordings are Beethoven IX with Donald Runnicles, Siegfried and Götterdämmerung twice with Christian Thielemann as well as Siegfried and Tristan und Isolde with Marek Janowski.

Im May 2015 he war awarded the title Österreichischer Kammersänger.
