Richard Goode’s recording of Beethoven’s Piano Concertos with Iván Fischer and the Budapest Festival Orchestra was praised as “truly revolutionary” by The New Yorker. This all-Beethoven program includes his famous Fifth Symphony and his Second Piano Concerto, part of Symphony Center’s complete cycle of Beethoven’s Piano Concertos in 2016/17.

The acclaimed Budapest Festival Orchestra, with Iván Fischer on the podium, returns to Chicago for just its second-ever concert at Symphony Center. This time it will offer an all-Beethoven program spotlighting the composer’s Symphonies Nos. 1 and 5 and Piano Concerto No. 2 (with Richard Goode). “Even after many concerts,” Fischer said, “I am fascinated by Beethoven’s symphonies, I find new hidden treasures in them every time. When I spend a few weeks with Beethoven, his music makes a huge impact on me, I feel like becoming a different person. He was exceptional: a huge talent, wild, unpredictable, who wanted and managed to change the world — for the better.” Read more at CSO Sounds & Stories
