Apr 3

Monday, April 3, 2017

Last year, the music world lost one of the most prominent and forward-thinking voices, Pierre Boulez. To commemorate his vast musical and intellectual contributions as well as his longstanding relationship with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Mead Composers-in-Residence Samuel Adams and Elizabeth Ogonek present a wide-ranging program featuring Boulez’s works and two MusicNOW commissions.

Collect your limited-edition MusicNOW poster, specifically designed for this program, in the lobby after the concert. Only 100 posters will be given away on a first-come, first-served basis.

Special thanks to Artistry EngravingGraphic Arts Studio and Mohawk Paper for their contributions to the limited-edition MusicNOW posters.

PERFORMERS

Pierre Boulez, the CSO's longtime conductor emeritus, spent almost 50 years with the orchestra. Just as countless audience members continue to appreciate the translucent colors and elegant expressiveness of Boulez’s CSO performances, many current orchestra members cherish their memories of his decades in Chicago. Ahead of the MusicNOW tribute "Illuminating Boulez" on April 3, CSO musicians share their recollections of the conductor-composer-visionary, who died in 2016. Read more at CSO Sounds & Stories
