CSO At Wheaton: Järvi Conducts Beethoven's Pastoral Symphony

Apr 21

7:30 PM

Pärt, Bartók, Beethoven

Friday, April 21, 2017

One of the world’s most distinguished conductors, Neeme Järvi leads the CSO in Arvo Pärt’s Fratres, followed by Bartók’s Violin Concerto, performed by CSO Concertmaster Robert Chen. Beethoven’s evocative portrait of nature, his Pastoral Symphony, closes the program.

The CSO presents the concert in collaboration with Wheaton College, which has been essential in connecting western suburban audiences to the Orchestra for decades since the CSO’s first concert appearance in Edman Memorial Chapel in 1960. Since that time, the CSO has performed in Edman Memorial Chapel more than 10 times with the Orchestra’s most recent appearance taking place in 2010. The concert also marks a continuation of the CSO’s commitment to expand and serve diverse audiences in the western suburbs by building connections with the extraordinary music-making of the CSO.

Presented in cooperation with Wheaton College and the Wheaton College Artist Series. Learn more at www.wheaton.edu or www.artistseries.org.
