Thursday, February 9, 2017

Vivica Genaux brings her "astounding ability to wind her way through some of Vivaldi's hair-raising obstacle courses of notes at lightning-speed tempos" (Los Angeles Times) to this concert with violinist and conductor Fabio Biondi. Genaux will perform several show arias by Vivaldi and his contemporaries, accompanied by a selection of Vivaldi's violin concertos and two of Corelli's Concerti grossi.

There will be a Classic Encounter preconcert lecture on Thursday, February 9.
Guest co-host: Peter Conover principal librarian.  Buy lecture tickets

Additional Dates for this Program

Mezzo soprano Vivica Genaux believes in the two Bs: the Baroque and bel canto. She returns to Orchestra Hall for an all-Baroque program with one of her longtime collaborators, conductor and violinist Fabio Biondi, who's making his CSO podium and soloist debuts. Genaux will be featured in arias by Vivaldi and three of his contemporaries. “There is so much beautiful music to work with,” she said. Biondi and Genaux have "done so many operas together, so we have a great deal of choice.” Read more at CSO Sounds & Stories
