Dutoit Conducts the Fauré Requiem

Apr 15

8:00 PM

Wagner, Honegger, Fauré

Saturday, April 15, 2017

Charles Dutoit conducts a moving Easter weekend program that culminates in a presentation of Fauré’s beloved Requiem, “one of the most sublime works in the sacred classical canon” (BBC Music). Wagner’s serene Good Friday Music offers a striking contrast with Honegger’s World War II-inspired Liturgique Symphony.

There will be a Classic Encounter preconcert lecture on Thursday, April 13. Buy lecture tickets

Note for the Newcomer: Fauré worked for many churches as organist and chorusmaster and his busy schedule forced him to become a "summer composer." He wrote that he started writing his Requiem "for the pleasure of it."
