Award-nominated composer Branford Marsalis is one of the
most revered instrumentalists of his time. The renowned
saxophonist and his tight-knit working band invite audiences
to an electrifying evening of original tunes, classics and
standards. Opening the night is Chicago’s own trombone great

The Lost Thought
The lyrical and haunting vision of CSO Mead Composer-
in-Residence Anna Clyne comes to life in this concert
informed by folk music and song. Her setting of a poem
by Emily Dickinson is complemented by a virtuosic
electro-acoustic work of Argentinian Martin Matalon and a
re-imagination of old-time string band music by Mason Bates.
MusicNOW receives funding through a leadership challenge grant from Irving Harris
Foundation, Joan W. Harris. Major support is also provided by Cindy Sargent and the
Sally Mead Hands Foundation.
