Symphony Center is the only place in town where your family can hear the world-renowned musicians of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in fun and engaging programs tailored for the young people in your life.

Ignite your child’s imagination and love of music with delightful, kid-sized CSO concerts. Featuring interactive concerts and engaging preconcert activities, the Family Matinee series is a wonderful experience for the whole family.

The 2016/17 Family Matinee series features incredible stories—and sounds—of courage. Celebrate bravery through a spotlight on the musical superheroes of the CSO, the tale of Don Quixote’s valiant and hilarious journey through Spain and Prokofiev’s famous story of a fearless boy who stands up for his friends in the face of a dangerous wolf.

What inspires courage? Beautifully depicted in Prokofiev’s music is the uplifting story of a boy who risks his own safety to protect his friends. Paired with the imaginative performers of the Magic Circle Mime Company, this program proves that you don’t need to be old or big to discover courage inside yourself.
