Richard Strauss’ work Ein Heldenleben leads us to ask what he was trying to reveal in his auto-biographical score. With over 30 musical quotes from his own earlier compositions, as well as quotes from Wagner and Beethoven, Strauss weaves an incredible story into this epic score.
