Miguel Harth-Bedoya, conductor
Sir James Galway, flute
Lady Jeanne Galway, flute
Last seen at Ravinia in 2006, conductor Miguel Harth-Bedoya picks up where he left off, exploring themes from around the world. Ireland is featured when Sir James Galway performs the U.S. premiere of Riverdance composer Bill Whelan’s Flute Concerto, and again when Lady Jeanne Galway joins him for Philip Hammond’s Carolan Variations, based on Irish harp melodies. Mussorgsky’s sonically spectacular Pictures at an Exhibition guides us through an expansive art gallery, drawing together musical motifs from all over Europe.
