Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra
Jazz Titans: Duke, Dizzy, 'Trane and Brubeck
Friday, February 13, 2015
The incomparable Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis pays homage to Duke Ellington and Count Basie, of course, but over the years has championed Latin and South African jazz and even the free jazz of Ornette Coleman. Leading his band of brilliant players in his trademark mix of groundbreaking tunes and classic selections, Marsalis brings us closer to the jazz melting pot that is New York during his annual visit to Chicago.
This presentation is supported by the Arts Midwest Touring Fund, a program of Arts Midwest that is funded by the National Endowment for the Arts, with additional contributions from the Illinois Arts Council and General Mills Foundation.
Note: Due to speaker placement for this event, patrons in the Terrace will not experience the same high quality of sound as in other areas of Orchestra Hall.
