MusicNOW: Myra Melford and John Zorn
Monday, June 1, 2015
The music of two avant-garde jazz artists, John Zorn and Chicago native Myra Melford, takes this concert beyond the boundaries of classical music. Chicagoan Mark Mellits offers a powerful string octet that is complemented by an assertive solo piano work by Esa-Pekka Salonen, and the concert features an engaging visual element created by the Chicago-based Cinema Libertad.
MusicNOW receives funding through a leadership challenge grant from Irving Harris Foundation, Joan W. Harris. Major support is provided by Cindy Sargent and Sally Mead Hands Foundation.
Pre- and postconcert entertainment provided by [illmeasures].
