Anne-Sophie Mutter and Mutter Virtuosi
Currier, Mendelssohn, Vivaldi
Wednesday, November 19, 2014
Exceptional violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter founded the Mutter Virtuosi to support and train the next generation of great artists. She joins current and former members of the program for two of chamber music’s most treasured works: Mendelssohn’s sparkling and animated Octet and Vivaldi’s delightful The Four Seasons. They open the concert with American composer Sebastian Currier’s Ringtones, a piece commissioned especially for the Mutter Virtuosi.
Anne-Sophie Mutter has commissioned several works for violin and bass that she and Roman Patkoló, one of her Mutter Virtuosi members, could perform together on tour. “We are trying to initiate a renaissance of this wonderful instrument, as a solo instrument as well as in the symphonic repertoire,” she said.
