Berlioz’s brilliant Les francs-juges Overture opens a program featuring the world premiere of Mead Composer-in-Residence Anna Clyne’s The Seamstress. The soloist is Chicago native Jennifer Koh, a violinist acclaimed for her “penetrating sound, myriad colorings and commanding technique” (The New York Times). The final work on this program, Beethoven’s Eroica Symphony, moves from its famous funeral march to a brilliant scherzo and extraordinarily inventive set of variations.
