Mother Goose and More

Nov16
11:00 AM
Saturday, November 16, 2013

The musicians of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra bring classic children’s stories and songs to life in this program, including scenes from Ravel’s picturesque Mother Goose Suite, exciting folk songs and soothing lullabies. Discover how stories and artists inspire one another and experience the way music can create and stir memories.

Recommended for ages 5 and up.

Each performance is preceded by a series of educational preconcert activities, including performances by students from local community music schools, composition and conducting activities led by musicians from the Civic Orchestra of Chicago and an Instrument Petting Zoo, and more. We invite you to arrive at Symphony Center one hour before each performance for these activities.

Program

  • Tchaikovsky Waltz from Sleeping Beauty
  • Mussorgsky Tuileries from Pictures from an Exhibition
  • McBurney Nursery Rhymes
