MusicNOW: Carbide & Carbon
Monday, December 16, 2013
Cello octet Carbide & Carbon by Mead Composer-in-Residence Mason Bates receives its world premiere. Bates created this piece, in which continuously morphing themes whip around the ensemble, especially for members of the CSO. A solo for prepared piano by mold-breaking percussionist Andy Akiho, the baroque-inspired These Broken Wings by David Lang and an electrifying work by Eduardo Guzman round out the program.
MusicNOW receives funding through a leadership challenge grant from Irving Harris Foundation, Joan W. Harris. Major support is also provided by Cindy Sargent and the Sally Mead Hands Foundation.
