Dutoit and Dufour

Mar5
6:30 PM
Dutoit and Dufour
Wednesday, March 5, 2014

Escape the everyday grind with the luscious sound of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Each Afterwork Masterworks concert features incredible music with an early start time and no intermission. Stay after each performance for an engaging Q&A with the guest artists and enjoy complimentary wine in the Grainger Ballroom.

The restless wanderings in the first movement of Saint-Saëns' Organ Symphony gradually yield to serene contemplation, growing in majestic grandeur with powerful organ chords and concluding in a series of brilliant fanfares. Charles Dutoit, renowned for his refined sense of orchestral color, also leads the world premiere of Guillaume Connesson's flute concerto, Pour sortir au jour, performed by the CSO's own Mathieu Dufour.

Preconcert Recital with Paul Jacobs, organ
Join Grammy® award-winner Paul Jacobs for Romantic Organ Music from Paris, featuring works by Vierne, Messiaen, Duruflé and Guilmant. This preconcert recital is free and open to all ticket-holders for the CSO concerts on March 5-8. The recitals will begin at the following times:

Wednesday, March 5, 5:30 p.m.
Thursday, March 6, 7:00 p.m.
Friday, March 7, 12:15 p.m.
Saturday, March 8, 7:00 p.m.
