0:00 - Prokofiev Piano Concerto No. 2

8:21 - Walton Symphony No. 1

Gerstein Plays Prokofiev

8:00 PM
Prokofiev, Walton
Friday, October 25, 2013

Prokofiev’s penetrating Second Piano Concerto breathlessly accelerates to its astonishing finale. The “brilliant, perceptive and stunningly fresh” (New York Times) Kirill Gerstein joins the CSO for one of the most technically difficult piano concertos ever written. Deeply influenced by Jean Sibelius, Walton's First Symphony overflows with bombastic power, sensuous desolation and arrogant swagger.

Pianist Kirill Gerstein will sign CDs in the Grainger Ballroom following the performance on Saturday, October 26.

  • Prokofiev Piano Concerto No. 2
  • Walton Symphony No. 1
