Dutoit and Dufour
Dukas, Connesson, Saint-Saëns
Friday, March 7, 2014
The restless wanderings in the first movement of Saint-Saëns’ Third Symphony gradually yield to serene contemplation, growing in majestic grandeur with powerful organ chords and concluding in a series of brilliant fanfares. Charles Dutoit, renowned for his refined sense of orchestral color, also leads Dukas’ dreamlike and seductive La Péri and the premiere of Guillaume Connesson’s Flute Concerto, performed by the CSO’s own Mathieu Dufour.
