0:00 - Martinu Oboe Concerto
7:58 - Scriabin The Divine Poem

Muti Conducts Scriabin

Jun8
8:00 PM
Haydn, Martinu, Scriabin
Saturday, June 8, 2013

Haydn's relatively early and courtly Symphony No. 48 opens this program of works with contrasting styles. CSO Principal Oboe Eugene Izotov performs Martinu's neoclassical, wry and deliciously lyrical Oboe Concerto—a cool sorbet against the spicy extremes of Scriabin's The Divine Poem, a lavishly orchestrated and exuberant masterwork clearly indebted to Wagner's Ring cycle.

Program

  • Haydn Symphony No. 48 (Maria Theresa)
  • Martinů Oboe Concerto
  • Scriabin The Divine Poem
