Borodin, Khachaturian, Tchaikovsky
Thursday, March 21, 2013

Internationally acclaimed conductor Tugan Sokhiev makes his CSO debut, opening with Borodin's exotic In the Steppes of Central Asia, which depicts a caravan traversing the desert under the watchful eye of Russian troops. CSO Principal Flute Mathieu Dufour takes center stage to play Khachaturian's sparkling Flute Concerto, an adaptation by Jean-Pierre Rampal for flute of the composer's violin concerto. Tchaikovsky's Fourth Symphony runs the gamut of emotions from despair to exuberant joy.

CSO Principal Flute Mathieu Dufour will sign copies of his recordings in Grainger Ballroom after the concert on Sunday, March 24.
