Get Up and Dance

May4
11:00 AM
Saturday, May 4, 2013

Ballet combines music and dance to tell stories from around the world without using a single word. Conductor Alastair Willis, dancers from Hubbard Street 2 and the CSO reveal the amazing ways that music and dance ignite our imaginations, with excerpts from some of the most memorable ballets of all time, including Stravinsky’s The Firebird and Copland’s Appalachian Spring.

Each performance is preceded by a series of educational preconcert activities, including performances by students from local community music schools, composition activities with musicians from the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, an Instrument Petting Zoo and visual art activities presented by the Art Institute of Chicago. We invite you to arrive at Symphony Center one hour before each performance for these activities.

Recommended for ages 5 and up.

Tesori is now serving lunch on the weekends! Make your reservation now or call 312-786-9911.
