new music series
March 15, 2010
The final MusicNOW concert of the 2009/10 season features the work of our celebrated Mead Composer-in-Residence Osvaldo Golijov and Alaska-based composer John Luther Adams. Adams’ works, including Qilyaun for four bass drums, reflect both his experience as a percussionist and his focus on Alaskan geography and culture. Golijov’s The Dreams and Prayers of Isaac the Blind “embodies themes in music that range from deeply meditative prayers to ecstatic and sometimes despairing klezmer-flavored dreams” — The Washington Post.
