Civic Orchestra Giving
The Civic Orchestra of Chicago is the training orchestra of the CSO, and the only orchestral training program affiliated with a major professional orchestra. Participating musicians are recent college graduates or graduate level music students who are preparing for careers in music. In addition to intense rehearsal preparation for formal concerts led by world class conductors, musicians participate in musical demonstrations and community chamber concerts to develop their skills as advocates for classical music. All Civic Orchestra activities are offered free of charge to eliminate financial and geographic barriers that prevent people from participating in the arts.
The Civic Orchestra of Chicago—an important part of the Institute for Learning, Access and Training at the Chicago Symphony Orchestra—is a vital part of Chicago’s musical community. It is an invaluable asset that helps to keep alive the rich heritage of orchestras all around the world. However, it takes the financial support of many loyal donors to make this wonderful program possible.
