Program

Every Halloween, “phantoms of the orchestra” return to haunt the concert hall. The maestro and his terrified assistant must use the power of the baton to control the ghoulish orchestra of the undead and lead them in concert. This orchestral twist on the classic story The Sorcerer’s Apprentice is brought vividly to life in this thrilling concert. Costumes are encouraged!

Join guest conductor Edwin Outwater and 2011 Crain-Maling Youth Auditions winner, 13 year-old cellist Johannes Gray, in a program featuring works by two of the most important composers of the Classical period, Haydn and Mozart.

Note: Due to anticipated disruption in the Loop caused by the G8/NATO meetings in late-May, the CSOA has decided to cancel the May 14, 2012 Youth Concerts. Performances of the same program on May 9 and 10 will be presented as planned. The CSO will contact all ticket holders for May 14 with information about rescheduling.
