Each season, the CSO offers several Open Rehearsals that offer the unique opportunity to get an insider’s view of the guest artists, conductors, and musicians of the orchestra.

Attending students will observe a complete CSO rehearsal from beginning to end. All who attend should remain for the entire two and a half hour rehearsal (there is a twenty-five minute break approximately halfway through). Following the rehearsal, the conductor, guest artist and/or select members of the CSO will be on hand to take questions from students.

Open rehearsals are free but space is limited.

In selecting students to attend these programs, please keep the following requests in mind:

  • The number of students to be admitted is limited, so reservations are required and will be confirmed on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • There is no limit to the number of students each confirmed school may bring. However, in distributing reservations equitably, we may fill some large requests only in part.
  • All students who attend should be in grade 9 or up and have a serious interest in the performance and/or appreciation of music, and therefore the motivation to participate in the rehearsal in a quiet, active and responsible manner.
  • Please plan to bring a sufficient number of chaperones to help reinforce good behavior during the rehearsal.
