CSO Docents teach about, create interest in, and develop appreciation for the orchestra and its repertoire in order to make students' experience at CSO education concerts more meaningful. Each season, Docents serve more than 3,000 children through preparatory and post-concert classroom visits.

The Docent Program holds its own training lectures, scheduled throughout each season. These lectures feature prominent Chicago-area music educators and curriculum specialists.

The Symphony Links program offers select schools an in-depth introduction to the elements of music and the instrument families.

All inquiries are welcome for this personally gratifying and fun-filled volunteer experience. Some music and/or teaching background, as well as a desire to work with schoolchildren, is recommended.

The Docent Program is a joint project of the League of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Association and the Institute for Learning, Access and Training.
