Welcome to the 2011/12 CSO Family Matinee Series!
Music Comes Alive as the CSO and extraordinary guest artists ignite your child’s imagination with outstanding musical presentations that invite the audience into the world of the orchestra.
In the first program, music comes alive as the orchestra is built before the audience’s eyes in Britten’s The Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra, accentuated by the energetic dancers of DanceWorks Chicago. Stravinsky’s delightful Suite from Pulcinella gets a family-friendly treatment through the lens of Chicago’s innovative Lookingglass Theatre Company. In the third program, there will be no doubt that The Composer is Dead, but the orchestra, conductor and audience are all very much alive in this fun and engaging musical mystery.
