Larry Yando

Since returning from 3 years as “Scar” in the national tour of THE LION KING, Larry has appeared as Dr. Pangloss in the GOODMAN’S acclaimed new production of CANDIDE; CYMBELINE , THE TWO NOBLE KINSMEN, TWELFTH NIGHT, and THE TAMING OF THE SHREW @ Chicago Shakespeare Theater; BACH AT LEIPZIG, AS YOU LIKE IT, and NIXON’S NIXON @ Writer’s Theatre; Fake @ STEPPENWOLF; the world premier of GOLDBRICK with Collaboraction and Walkabout Theatres; 4 years as “Scrooge” in The Goodman Theatre’s A CHRISTMAS CAROL, to which he returns for the 2012 season; and most recently, as ROY COHN in Court Theatre’s ANGELS IN AMERICA.

Other credits include many principal roles in many plays at many theaters, including The Court, Steppenwolf, Milwaukee Rep, Madison Rep, The Huntington Theatre, Apple Tree, Notre Dame Shakespeare Festival, Royal George Theatre, Marriott Lincolnshire, The Goodman, The Shakespeare Theatre Co....

He has taught acting at DePaul University, Northwestern University, Columbia University , Act One Conservatory, CST’s Classical Training Program, and is a text/verse coach at Chicago Shakespeare theatre as well as a freelance acting coach.

Larry has received Chicago Magazine’s “actor of the year”, The Reader’s “Best actor”, DePaul University’s “Excellence in the arts” awards, and was 1 of 9 national recipients of the prestigious Lunt- Fontanne Fellowship in 2010.

This past season, Larry also appeared in HAMLET @ Writer’s Theatre, JULIUS CAESAR at Chicago Shakespeare, and the world premiere of Disney’s THE JUNGLE BOOK @ the Goodman Theatre.
