Eleonora Buratto

Born in Mantova in 1982, Eleonora Buratto graduated at the Conservatory “Lucio Campiani in 2006. She has studied for over three years under the guidance of Luciano Pavarotti and later on with Mirella Freni. She is now working with Paola Leolini. 

She attended a masterclass with Enzo Dara debuting in Mozart’s Bastiano e Bastiana staged at the Teatro Bibiena of Mantova. 

In 2007 she won the “A. Belli” Competition of Teatro Lirico Sperimentale of Spoleto, where she successfully debuted the role of Musetta (La Bohéme) and the title role in D. Scarlatti’s Dirindina va a teatro. 

In June 2007 she performed the role of Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro staged at the Opera de Mahon in Menorca.

She also took part in various concerts singing opera arias and chamber music among which the concert where Luciano Pavarotti received the Donizetti Prize (Teatro Donizetti in Bergamo, 2006) and the concert for the 60th anniversary of Leo Nucci’s debut, where she performed by his side. 

In 2008 she performed The Beggar’s opera at the Teatro Comunale in Bologna and at the Teatro Valli in Reggio Emilia. 

At the Wexford Festival Opera she took part in the productions of Old Maid and the thief (Ms. Pinkerton), Tutti in maschera (Lisetta) and Il Signor Bruschino (Sofia). 

Eleonora Buratto has made her debut in Thais (Crobyle) for the opening of Teatro Regio Season in Turin, where she performed also La Bohème (Musetta) under the baton of Gianandrea Noseda on tour in Italy; Così fan tutte (Despina) at Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia in Valencia and Cenerentola (Clorinda) at the Stresa Festival; Cherubini’s Medea (Glauce) in Cremona. 

In the fruitful relationship with Riccardo Muti she starred in 2010 in the role of Creusa in Jommelli’s Demofoonte in Salzburg Festival and Opera de Paris and in 2011-2012 season she received a great success in the leading role of Susanna in Mercadante’s Due Figaro again at the Salzburg Festival, Madrid Teatro Real and Ravenna Festival.

Recent engagements include: Cleopatra in Haendel’s Giulio Cesare under the baton of Ottavio Dantone; title role in Romolo e Ersilia by Hasse in Innsbruck Festival; Musette in Puccini’s La Bohème in Napoli’s Teatro San Carlo; Frasquita in Carmen staged by Calixto Bieito (recipient of the 2012 Franco Abbiati Prize for Best Direction by the Italian National Association of Music Critics for this mise-en-scene) in Palermo Teatro Massimo. In summer 2012 she sings Echo in Strauss’ Ariadne auf Naxos in Salzburg Festival with Daniel Harding.

Next seasons Eleonora Buratto will be full of great engagements. Among them she will debut the role of  Norina in Don Pasquale with R. Muti in Madrid Teatro Real and Roma opera and Adina in Elisir d’Amore again in Teatro Real in Madrid, Nannetta in Falstaff under the baton of Zubin Mehta again at the Salzburg Festival, Corinne in Le Voyages à Reims at the Nederlandse Opera, and Lisa in Sonnambula at Liceu with JD Florez and D. Damrau. Under the baton of Riccardo Muti she has been asked to sing Bach’s B Minor Mass in Chicago with the Chicago Symphonic Orchestra and as a special request of Maestro Muti she performed again Amelia in Simon Boccanegra at Teatro dell’ Opera in Rome opening season 2012-2013.
